Cancer Inspired

Cancer Inspired is a space where you will experience the ironic beauty that cancer can inspire. Easily a leading cause of death - especially among Black women- cancer can be a devastating disease and a daunting journey. Along the path, there is also beauty and strength that can renew and inspire like the mythical phoenix rising from the ashes.

Zion Banks is a Chief Storyteller by profession who lives her passion to document all journeys. Her September 2022 cancer diagnosis is no exception. On these digital pages, I have laid bare all my thoughts, fears, hopes and dreams for what lies on the other side of cancer, a disease that took my mother’s life at 57 years old.

Cancer is such a scary and devastating diagnosis for so many. And, well it should be, however, I decided that I would not allow cancer to define me. I would find a way to be inspired and to inspire others coping with this life altering condition.
